I did for a long time.
Then I showed a friend this picture to demonstrate to him that the only thing he has witnessed in his lifetime has been failing prophecies.
That was the end of that 30 year friendship.

interesting.. here is the first thing i've found on the subject, though i haven't read much of it yet.. http://faculty.gordon.edu/hu/bi/ted_hildebrandt/otesources/05-deuteronomy/text/articles/heiser-deut32-bs.htm.
pseudo.
I agree Phizzy, this is a really interesting topic.
i am a balding man.
mid 40s.
i just shave it really close so it’s looks like a choice.
If you are talking about platelet -rich plasma therapy, I have had it for an injury and I think it worked. I say think because it was a joint injury and maybe it was close to healing anyway. But it seemed to help.
I didnt know they used it for balding but after reading your post I googled it and there seems to be a reasonable amount of evidence that it is effective.
You can slow balding with finasteride and minoxidil also. Go to a doctor, not a hair clinic.
the president of the united states says we have to do something about this.
many politicians and people agree that we are all affected by the scourge of systemic racism.
what’s your view of this?
For systemic racism to exist, by definition, doesn't that require laws in the country's constitution specifically targeting people of a given race, that may be detrimental to that race?
If so, then I doubt there is systemic racism in the U.S.
Bigots, prejudice, and racism exist in every country, but its hard to legislate against being a moron.
if someone comes to you with a knife or a gun, would you defend yourself if you could?
if someone tried to beat you up , would you physically engage, run away or just try to talk the person out of beating you up or robbing you?
if you did have a gun to defend yourself would you shoot to kill or would you simply aim for the ankle to incapacitate the person?

@joey: what self defense instructor would tell you to give an intruder what they want and hope they go away? At that point they’re already too close to you.
Guess what: they’ll shoot you or beat you after you give them what they want because you are a witness.
I've mentioned before that Ive studied martial arts for 20 years, not just traditional mixed martial arts styles but also street style self defence, including training with guns, knives, blunt weapons, multiple attackers, improvised weapons, car-jackings etc.
There are generally 2 types of attackers- process predators and resource predators. Resource predators want what you have, money, phone, car, whatever. They just want to buy drugs or food, or make money selling your car to a chop shop. Give it to them and they will generally go away. Its not worth risking your life, or the life of your loved ones over a few bucks in your wallet. Could it escalate to become more dangerous ? Of course it could.
Process predators have something in their mind they want to act on, like a compulsion they have fantasised about.
This is general information and no 2 situations will be the same. Nothing is guaranteed so you have to go with your gut if you find yourself in a bad situation. Some people I know carry a second wallet and a second set of car keys to give to an attacker, if they are mugged. There are also improvised weapons we carry around with us that most people aren't aware of , or how to use them properly, should you need to defend yourself physically.
To answer your question anonymous, can you imagine a self defence instructor that tells his students that they should fight to the death in every situation, no matter what the threat level?
its been strangely quiet on here lately about covid..or isnt it news any more.
the " not a pandemic" brigade have been noticably absent about the situation in india..
Everyone knows masks aren't 100% effective but they are more effective than doing nothing.
Wearing seatbelts doesn't guarantee you wont die in an car accident either.
My guess is that the people that have problems with wearing masks are the same people that would choose not to wear seatbelts, or motorbike helmets because its infringes on their rights and freedoms.

Its a tough question to answer because it depends on so many factors and is situational.
Everyone has a hollywood- style, preconceived idea of what they would do given ideal circumstances.
Most self-defence instructors will tell you to give them what they want, if they are after money and hope they go away. If they dont go away, then you need a plan B, which may involve fighting back, maybe fighting for your life, using obstacles or running way, trying to get your hands on an improvised weapon or shield, or a firearm. Then, you need to know a little bit about using that weapon effectively and in a way that the attacker cant take it off you.
I think self- defence should be taught at schools and is a life skill everyone should have, like defensive driving.

sorry, the article is behind a paywall.
however, here's a copy of it without the photo:.
here is a direct link to the Watchtower in the Australian Charities and not for profit Commission website.

You can download financials and view other interesting things. It seems that most of the money WT receives in Australia is sent, presumably back to HQ in New York. In 2020 , revenue was about $32M and $16M was allocated to 'donations and overseas aid'.
if you go to a restaurant, do you tip and typically how much?
if you were given a 90 minute time frame to eat at a restaurant, would that restriction limit your tipping to the waitress or waiter?.
also if you order a coffee and donut and pick it up, do you contribute to the “tip jar” that’s on the counter?
Cheers Carla !

Ok, at this point I should probably explain, before I get forever typecast as a tight wad.
In Australia, a 20 year old worker gets paid the equivalent of about $16.00 per hour USD. That's the minimum wage. It doesn't matter if you wash the dishes, or wait on tables, your boss has to pay you at least this much. More experienced staff can negotiate for more pay. And yes, some customers will often leave tips, either directly, or throw some change into the tip jar.
Not only that, but the boss also has to pay an extra 9.5% to the employee, based on whatever they earned that week into a retirement fund for the employee, similar to 401k in the U. S. The employer has to pay the extra out of his own pocket and it applies to full time employees and casual employees.
So, with the minimum wage and the superannuation, the employee is guaranteed to get at least $17.60 USD per hour.
I've travelled around the world and I haven't noticed any significant difference in customer service anywhere, regardless of tipping. I've eaten at silver service restaurants in Europe, UK, and eaten at roadside stalls in places like asia and Jamaica.
